Group Sense (International) Limited ("GSL") was founded in June 1988 and was later listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (601.HK) in January 1993. GSL is the world leading manufacturer of electronic dictionaries and other handheld information devices.

In 1989 GSL launched the first English/Chinese electronic dictionary in Hong Kong under the brand name of "Instant-Dict" which has since become the leading consumer brand in the Greater China market. Apart from "Instant-Dict", the Group is now selling electronic dictionaries and translators covering more than 30 languages in over 25 countries or regions.
The Group also manufactures Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) products. In 1996, GSL launched the worlds first PDA that operated on a Chinese language platform with functions of Chinese characters handwriting input and built-in electronic dictionaries. Since 2000, GSL has started marketing the Xplore series of PDAs, with featuring magnesium casing, bilingual user interface and "open-platform" operating system that allows others to develop customized applications. In 2001, GSL launched the worlds first bi-lingual data-centric GSM PDA, an ideal communication device for wireless internet and "M-commerce" uses. Subsequently, in 2003, the Group launched its first Palm-powered smartphone, an all-in-one Palm OS-based smartphone. That is the lightest one in the market and- it soon won the award of "Hong Kong Awards for Industry -- Customer Product Design" in the same year.
GSL's Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) business is another fast growing business line. The Group has been manufacturing many hi-tech electronic products for major customers in Japan and Europe. With these strategic partners, we have been producing variety of products including electronic organizers, PDA, handheld e-mail devices and electronic dictionaries, etc.
Quality is of paramount importance. Apart from applying TQM (Total Quality Management) on a firm-wide basis, the Group also earned the awards of ISO9001 and later ISO 14000.
Over the past years, GSL has been granted numerous awards including the various awards of Hong Kong Awards for Industry -- Consumer Product Design (1995), Technological Achievement (1997), Productivity (1999), Quality (1999) and more than 10 other awards in different categories
