There are 40 experienced satellite and communications specialists and engineers in the Satellite Control Centre to control and monitor continuously its own APT's satellites in the geostationary orbit. The satellite control centre operates in 6/4 Ghz (C-Band) and 14/12 Ghz (Ku-Band) to carry out tracking, telemetry, command and communication traffic and to monitor operations for the APT satellites round the clock. It currently operates nine antennae (13m(x3), 5.5m, 11m, 6.1m and 9m for C-band, 8.1m and 9m for Ku-band) and nine transmission facilities as well as associated equipment and facilities. The 11m antennae is a full-motion, monopulse tracking antenna, which can support GTO missions. To prepare for the control and operation of APSTAR V and APSTAR VI, and at the same time provide satellite TV broadcasting and telecommunications services, Satellite Control Centre Phase II was completed in February 2002, and had immediately commenced commercial operation. The Centre is equipped with a data center of 14,700 sq.ft., whichhas also started commercial operation and generating revenue.
